ARS Signature Heavy Duty Hand Pruner
This tough but lightweight professional pruner has a precision-ground, hard chrome plated blade for greater sharpness, hardness, rust- and sap-resistance and superior durability. Handle is ideal for smaller hands, and offset blade angle maintains natural hand strength and minimizes fatigue. Unique locking mechanism is released by simply squeezing the handles, enabling simple and quick single-handed operation. Blades are easily replaceable.

ARS Signature Heavy Duty Hand Pruners Reviews
“It works either right- or left-handed. Fit and sturdiness are great. Not a flimsy tool like so many.” -- Deborah R., gardener, Kentucky
“It has become very comfortable, and the blade retains its sharpness amazingly.” -- Louse S., landscaper and horticulturalist, Pennsylvania
“The shape and comfort of this pruner are perfect. I love the locking feature and the fit to my hand. I really gave the pruner a workout and the blade is very sharp. This is by far the best pruner!” -- Kari S., viticulturist, Pennsylvania
All of our testers said they would recommend this tool to other women. Several women who participated in our focus groups mentioned ARS to us, saying they preferred these pruners to the Felco pruners they had previously used, while 2 of our testers still preferred their Felcos. We prefer ARS!

pros
- Blade quality / sharpness
- Effectiveness
- Light weight
- Balance
- Small size
- Locking mechanism (3/5)
- Sturdiness
cons
- Locking mechanism (2/5)
- Prefers a pruner with a rotating handle (1/5)
- “Opens too wide for my hand” (1/5) (Note from Ann & Liz: We have found the span of all professional-quality pruners to be at least slightly too wide for most women and are talking with manufacturers regarding this issue; in the meantime, ARS is one of the best.)
About ARS
Since 1876, the Japanese company ARS has been producing high-quality professional pruning tools. ARS’ state-of-the-art technology utilizes high carbon tool steel to produce exceptionally sharp blades that hold their edge, cut after cut. ARS invented the tri-edge, pull saw blade that is now the industry standard. Though the name ARS actually comes from the Greek word for “art,” it’s no coincidence that it’s also an acronym for “Always Really Sharp.” ARS is distributed in the U.S. by GrowTech, Inc., a family-owned company we are proud to call one of our partners.
